
According to Jim is a sitcom that centers on Jim, the protagonist of the show and, his amiable nuclear family. Jim is a sluggish person and relish to poke fun at his wife, Cheryl. He has a flourishing construction business but, often confronts some embarrassing situations due to his lethargic attitude. He’s a sports freak with a slew of teams he’s specifically inclined towards like, Chicago bears in football, Chicago Cubs in Baseball and so on. The couple is blessed with three kids, Ruby, Gracie and Kyle. The final season witnesses the arrival of twins, Jonathan and Gordon into the Orenthal family.
Thrown in are two auxiliary characters, Andy and Dana. Andy is Jim’s brother-in-law and his best friend. Dana is Andy’s better-half and her favorite pastime is to outshine Jim by supporting Cheryl. The entire household is a reflection of what a middle class family is composed of. Their lives are a concoction of fears and anxieties sprinkled with moments of joy and pleasant surprises. So, Jim and Cheryl have some usual couple fights over trivial issues. Some of the situations in the show are startling like, their daughter’s first day at kindergarten, which normally should have been an exciting day, turns out to be a horrendous one. Similarly, at another instance, Dana drives the wrath of Jim by telling Cheryl about those plans, which Jim has for her upcoming birthday.
The show entertained the viewers with a cascade of eight full-fledged seasons. Every season displayed some unparalleled sequences that brought an ingenuous smile on one’s face. Season eight saw Jim being jealous of Cheryl’s Yoga instructor, as well as, his fear of falling for a love-trap by a former girlfriend. Season six also spelled out intriguing turn of events with Jim being compelled by Cheryl to go for an anger management class.
The show strikes the right chord by presenting catchy moments, that corresponds with real life.
