American Dad is an animated sitcom that ridicules the contemporary political scenario, mocking at the loopholes that need to be plugged. The satire used in all the six seasons of the show, has a good deal of queer characters that enhance its humor quotient. Stan Smith is the central character, a CIA agent and an overly patriotic person. Talking about his wife, Francine is a kinky woman with an immoral past. Some of her deeds that reflect upon her misconduct include going to bed with several men, giving marijuana a try and hating George Clooney.
The Smiths have two kids. Hayley is their daughter, who’s a liberal and supports feminist causes. She is also okay with the concept of youngsters possessing guns. And then, there is the exact opposite of Hayley, her brother, Steve who’s an introvert. Steve is not quite vocal about his perspective, due to the influence of his father’s Republican beliefs on him. Then, there are two non-human characters that are a part of Smith household. One of these is an alien named, Roger and the other, is a goldfish that’s fondly referred to as Klaus.
The show is the brainchild of Seth MacFarlane, who’s known for coming up with series that mock at the current state of affairs. The batches reflect the spirit of the times, and are brimmed with instances regarding the same. For instance, in an episode, Stan hands over a gun to Steve. Stan pays too hoots to Francine stating her concerns about Steve being too young for the weapon. Of course, Francine’s fears come true when Steve accidentally kills Santa Claus. Moreover, the legal age at which youngsters can possess weapons is also a debatable issue. This installment takes a dig at the kind of mess parents sometimes create for their kids.
The trials and tribulations of the Smiths give an insight into the many situations, people are usually caught up with. Smirking at the current scenario helps to vent the subdued and pent-up frustration, anger and dissatisfaction. This and many other things in the show, tickle viewers’ funny bone, leaving them craving for more!
