One of the most watched shows of BBC 3, Being Human is a supernatural drama which has been penned down by Toby Whithouse. The show centers on three bizarre housemates: a werewolf, a ghost and a vampire, who embark on a journey to acknowledge their identity and adjust with it. Initially, the show started with three lead stars including Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey and Lenora Crichlow. However, as the show progressed, the statistics of cast members touched a number of twenty.
The series, which is presently in its third season, broadcast its pilot episode on 18 February 2008. The show opened with Mitchell, a vampire and George, a werewolf shifting together into a flat, not knowing that it is already occupied by the ghost of Annie. The trio tries to come to terms with their afterlife issues. The challenge of simply being human seems to be an arduous task to accomplish. While Annie has to confront her past, Mitchell finds it difficult to control his craving for blood. George embarks on a hunt for a safe place, while his girlfriend seeks revenge from him. As the trio moves on, they encounter several people in the quest to find out the exact cause behind their present status.
In the second season, a dangerous twist takes place in the trio’s life, as they are confronted by a weird Professor Jaggat and emotionless Kemp. Both are hardcore Christians and, when they discover that the flat is haunted by vampires, ghosts and werewolves, they take an oath to destroy them. The other alternative for them is to conduct harsh experiments upon these paranormal creatures.
As the show progresses to its third season, not only does the storyline undergo several changes, but the settings too. The first two seasons had been shot at Bristol but the filming for the third season continued from another location: Barry in Wales. This season also witnessed the entry of a new character called Nina Pickering played by Sinead Keenan. With the inclusion of Nina, another werewolf, the storyline has acquired an interesting turn.
