Boy meets world, tracks the metamorphosis of its protagonist, Cory Matthews from his boyhood to a man. Cory is not alone in this journey and accompanying him are his best friends, Shawn and Cory’s girlfriend, Topanga. These children learn the basic tenets of life and relationships from their teacher Mr. Feeny. This comedy drama focuses on the highs and crest falls of Cory, as he moves from school to college.
The successive batches of the show revolve around the antics of this threesome and its consequences. Another teacher with whom the kids share a good rapport is Mr. Turner. Turner is shown as a Liberal, who believes in giving space to children and, not imposing one’s own views on them. He is therefore, at loggerheads with Mr. Feeny, who gets promoted from a teacher to school principal and strictly adheres to carrot and stick approach. Cory and Shawn are among the not-so-happening students at school. But, the duo never stops trying their wacky ways to garner popularity. Their weird acts often land them in trouble as well.
The show ran from September, 1993 to May 2000 and witnessed seven subsequent seasons adorning its bouquet. The plot takes unexpected turns with the delivery of its supporting characters as well. The first two seasons throw the spotlight on Cory and Shawn dabbling with studies, sports, extracurricular activities, along with their pranks. Sudden crush on Topanga blooms into love for Cory in the second season. The lovey-dovey soon part ways as well, due to their conflicting ideas in the very next season. The successive season is strewn with an unprecedented series of events. Turner gets to breathe a sigh of relief, after he survives a disastrous accident. Jack, half brother of Shawn marks his entry and soon bears the brunt of Shawn’s long suppressed hatred against him.
The final season beholds the distraught couple, Cory and Topanga hitting off on a romantic mode, yet again. They abandon their plan to elope and decide to get married with societal acceptance later on.
