Tom Kapinos’s Californication is one of the few TV shows that present a perfect blend of drama and comedy. It follows the life of a beleaguered writer named Hank Moody, who finds it difficult to strike a balance between his professional and personal life. The show has successfully completed three seasons back-to-back and, after a long hiatus, it premiered a fresh season.

The opening season takes into account the troubles of Hank Moody, when he falls prey to his personal demonic traits. His affairs with Mia, Bill’s daughter, take a toll on him and, the fear of being penalized for illegal intercourse with her almost turns his life upside down. Season 1 takes a more intriguing turn when, Moody falls for Bill’s would-be fiancée Karen. And, during the wedding of Karen and Bill, when Moody leaves with his daughter Becca, Karen follows him.

The very next season kicks off with the theme of reunion, as things start getting better for all three: Moody, Karen and Becca. But gradually, Karen and Moody find it difficult to stay together, when the latter gets caught in an illicit relationship with Sonja. On the other hand, his daughter Becca falls in love with a guy named, Damien. In the meantime, Moody completes a biography on Ashby, another woman, whom he is attracted towards.

Californication season three features Moody as a teacher and, hence, gets more attached to his daughter. However, the story arc takes a sudden u-turn, when the troubled writer finds his daughter, Becca, following his footsteps.

The central character of Hank Moody is played by a renowned Hollywood actor, David Duchovny. And interestingly, when the show made an announcement to comeback, the actor welcomed the role whole-heartedly. The show has been making people enjoy with the characters, making them feel like a part of their life.
