The cop show Dark Blue takes into account, the investigation procedures of a Los Angeles-based, fictional covert unit. The prime focus of the show is on various characters like Carter Shaw, Ty Curtis, Dean Bendis and Jaimie Allen, who constitute the unique team of police officers.  The plotline traces the personal, as well as the professional lives of the cops, especially that of Carter Shaw. As the chief of the under cover unit, he has special strategies of tracking down criminals. Basically, he banks on the contacts with some criminals only to unearth the fugitives. Having served at LAPD for more than 18 years, he shares a strong bond with some of the bad guys of the crime world.

Season 1 follows the team of undercover agents as they crack several intriguing cases, involving that of the alleged links of FBI agents. One of the team members named, Ty Curtis is shown to be in utter difficulty, while maintaining his work and newly-wedded wife. On the other hand, Dean Bendis comes up as an agent, whose undercover spree puts him in the bad books of his colleagues. His activities sometimes, compel the other members of his team to doubt his integrity. Jaimie Allen is yet another agent, who gets an opportunity, simply because of her incredible skills.

The next season of the show also brings some enthralling crime investigations by the special unit. This season adds up another member in the unit in the form of Alex Rice. The role of central character, Carter Shaw is portrayed by actor Dylan McDermott.

One of the interesting aspects of this show’s episodes (both the seasons) is that a large number of guest stars from other popular shows like NCIS, The Wire and The Sopranos are featured. Show’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer has the credit of bringing out some top-notch detective shows, including CSI.
