Under the banner of FremantleMedia comes a unique game show known as Downfall. With famed wrestler Chris Jericho as the presenter, the show claims to offer its contestants, a golden chance to be a millionaire. The game show made its debut in 2010 and because of its unique format and prize money of 10 million dollars for the winner, it became an overnight hit.
In each episode of the show, the contestants are taken to a multi-storied building where the host, Jericho asks some trivial questions. The twist in the tale is that the replicas of prize money are hanged to a belt and the contestants are supposed to answer the questions within the stipulated time. When a contestant fails to come out with the correct answers of the queries on time, the prize money detaches itself from the belt and gets smashed on the ground.
There are seven rounds, and each of them contains cash prize. When a contestant successfully qualifies all the time-bound rounds, he or she takes home the ultimate sum of 10 million dollars. It’s not that when a contestant fails to answer a question, he or she has to leave the game show. The whole game is actually determined by time. If the participants give a wrong answer, there are allowed to answer till their stipulated time doesn’t get over.
The value of the prize money increases after every round. However, there are two vital stages as far as the money tree is concerned. The first important stage gets toppled as soon as round three is over. When a contestant breaches first important stage, there is guaranteed prize money of $25,000. The second important stage is, when the contestants breach the seventh and the ultimate round. The unique game show is directed by Russell Norman, who has the credit of working in many of the reality shows including America’s Got Talent as well as coveted award functions like, Bafta.
