In Treatment is a drama series, which revolves around a psychotherapist, Dr. Paul Weston. It focuses on how the skilled doctor treats his patients, by arranging weekly sessions for them, which include therapies. Gabriel Byrne in the role of Paul does complete justice to his character, by dealing with one particular patient every episode. Gina is the clinical supervisor of Paul, who assists him in helping the patients to come out of the gloominess. After attending to the patients for a week, at the end, Paul visits his own therapist.
Dianne Wiest has played the role of Gina with such perfection that she, along with Doctor Paul, has been kept as a regular character of the series, while most of the other characters have featured just for a single season. Michelle Forbes plays the role of Paul’s wife throughout season 1. However, her role is limited to just two appearances in season 2.
Apart from Paul and Gina, there’s another character Laura, who’s an anesthesiologist and has some romantic inclinations towards Paul. In season 1, a patient Alex brings some thrill in the show as he’s a fighter pilot and has come to seek Paul’s help, in order to come out of the trauma of his recent mission.
Season 2 brings with itself some unforgettable sequences, which include a 12-year-old innocent boy, Oliver who believes that he’s responsible for his parents’ separation. The season became all the more interesting, as CEO Walter approaches Paul for his treatment of panic attacks that are making his life miserable.
Season 3 of the series focuses more on relationships, as Paul’s girlfriend Wendy is introduced and his son comes to stay with him. It also chronicles an actress Frances, who intends to find a solution of his memory loss at Paul’s clinic. Though she considers that her problem is to forget her play lines, later she comes to know that it’s her fear of getting inflicted with breast cancer, because of which she tends to forget everything.
