A thrilling animated science-fiction series with a dash of black comedy, Invader Zim chronicles the escapades of an extraterrestrial being, Zim. Zim belongs to a planet known as Irk, and is hell-bent on destroying another planet, which in the series is shown as a planet that is the negative version of Earth.

The show took off on March 30, 2001 and managed to earn acclaim from viewers and critics alike. Though afterwards its creators decided to wipe it off, it is still loved by viewers, due to which it got the status of a cult series.

Zim’s mission of destroying the entire human race and desire to take everything under his control are inhibited by some factors. Those factors include Zim’s own lack of expertise and a few planet-saviors, who remain ready to go to any extent to save their planet. One of these planet saviors is Dib, whose mind is sharp enough to understand Zim’s intentions and thus, stop him at the right moment. Another is Zim’s robot GIR, who goes against Zim to stop him from subjugating human race.

The character of Zim is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz, while Rosearik Rikki Simons has lent his voice to GIR. The story starts with Zim as his own fellow beings abolish him from Foodcourtia as a punishment for his misdeeds. Actually, he was a part of Operation Impending Doom I, under which he mistreated his allies and played havoc with his own planet. After this, Zim joins an army of special Irken soldiers.

Thereafter, he’s termed as an Invader and is sent to a faraway planet, known as ‘Earth’. Zim then attempts to mix-up with other humans, with the aim to collect important pieces of information and hence, to achieve triumph over the planet.

In the second season of the series, Zim sends a message to his masters, in order to invite them to Earth. He has the intention to involve them in his master plan, which is based on a brain parasite. Things become more intense as Zim tries to take the advantage of the humans’ devotion for Santa, by dressing up as Santa Claus. The series ends its run with the message that Santa arrives every year to eat candies!
