Mortal Kombat Legacy is a U.S. web series that took off on Machinima.com on April 11, 2011. It is directed by Kevin Tancharoen and stars Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan, Darren Shahlavi, Matt Mullins, Sam Tjhia, Jolene Tran, Ryan Robbins, Ian Anthony Dale, Kevan Ohtsji, Shane Warren Jones and Peter Shinkoda. The show is adapted from the original Mortal Kombat video game.

Kevin Tansharoen proposed a short film 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth' shot by him and his colleagues, to the Warner Bros. The same short was accidentally uploaded by Kevin on the internet, and was highly loved by the audience. Warner Bros. at first refused Kevin's proposal, but seeing the high response of the short on the internet, gave him a green light for the web series.

Now, Kevin's last hurdle was to convince Ed Boon, who is the co-creator of the game. Boon was also very impressed by the short, but was surprised to see Kevin's excitement for the franchise. Later, Boon also gave the go head to Kevin.

Mortal Kombat Legacy unfolds the stories of characters of the original game and also tells the reason behind their participation in the Mortal Kombat Tournament. This is the same competition on which the first game was based. Each episode of the series concentrates on different players of the tournament; hence, the show does not continue its next episode, from where it ended the last one.
