Presently airing on BBC One and BBC HD, Outcasts is a strikingly-scintillating science-fiction series, starring Liam Cunningham, Ashley Walters, Daniel Mays, Hermione Norris, Amy Manson, Michael Legge and several other seasoned actors. Outcasts debuted on February 7, 2011 with seven episodes completed. Right from its start, the series has managed to evoke high hopes in viewers.
The show’s storyline is based on the planet called Carpathia, which is witnessing the arrival of a succession of spaceships from Earth, with the prime intention to colonize it. Carpathia is located at such an enormous distance from Earth that it takes almost five years of space-travel to reach there. A large segment of Carpathia’s population lives in Forthaven, a town rich in amenities. The Carpathians are unaware of Earth’s fate and the only information they have about it, comes from the few evacuee spaceships that manage to reach their planet.
The main focus of the story is on President Richard Tate and the strategically-invaluable operatives of the Protection and Security group, whose motive is to tread the lengths and breadths of this planet, to retrieve all that is necessary for survival.
The coming of CT-9, probably the last spaceship that managed to accomplish a successful space-travel, from Earth to Carpathia is highlighted in an apt way. After this, the storyline sheds light on the lives of the existing settlers, and also shows how the new evacuees adjust with the Forthaven community.
A lot of creative input and expertise has gone into the making of this show. Kudos Film & Television took almost three years to finally put this show under production in May 2010. Their efforts have managed to weave a futuristic on-screen story, which seems extremely close to reality. |
