An American situational comedy, Outsourced takes us right inside an Indian workplace, which is bubbling with energy. It has been adapted from John Jeffcoat’s movie, having the same title. NBC decided to include the show among its impending telecasts on May 7, 2010.
Outsourced struck the television screens for the first time on September 23, 2010. Almost a month later, NBC okayed a full season run of this show.
The shooting of Outsourced is carried out at the famous Radford Studios, situated in Los Angeles. Its story revolves around an Indian call center, offering services to an American company. Todd Dempsy, a citizen of America, looks after the day-to-day operations of this call center. While he shares the American Pop culture with his employees, he himself gets acquainted with the hues of Indian traditions. Soon he finds himself learning interesting details about Indian deities like, Maa Kali and, yearly festivals like, Holi. He also gets exposed to common lingo, the sacredness of cows and the reason as to why Indians simply love to eat at the McDonalds. Steadily, Todd becomes sure that India is an ideal place for outsourcing. The meaning of a ‘Holiday in Goa’ also strikes the inquisitive mind of Todd. Outsourced not only throws light on the fast-growing trend of outsourcing businesses, but also highlights the co-existence of two different thought patterns.
Stars like Ben Rappaport, Rizwan Manji, Sacha Dhawan, Rebecca Hazlewood, Parvesh Cheena, Anisha Nagarajan and Diedrich Bader have added life to the show’s fantabulous storyline.
Besides America, Outsourced is being enjoyed in Canada and New Zealand. In Asia, the show is telecasted on Universal. Its international broadcasts clearly indicate that the show embraces an international concept, which is being loved by one and all.
