Peep Show is a widely-acclaimed British sitcom that has been telecasted on Channel 4 since 2003. It stars Robert Webb and David Mitchell as the lead characters. Its storyline has been penned down by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, with additional material by the lead actors themselves. The broadcast of Peep Show’s seventh season catapulted it as the longest-running situational comedy in the history of Channel 4. Its innovative screenplay includes ‘point of view shots’, focusing on the perceptions of the main characters.
Peep Show chronicles the lives of two young men, who are just a few years away from joining the community of middle-aged. Mark Corrigan (David) works as a loan manager, whereas Jeremy Usbourne (Robert) is an unsuccessful musician, with big dreams in his eyes. Their first meeting transpired at the story-bound Dartmouth University and at present, they live together in a flat in Croydon, South London.
Mark has no worries about his future, as he is enjoying a steadily-progressing career. However, he lacks perfect social mannerisms and tends to be overcritical at times. On the other hand, Jeremy is an optimistic man and he takes on the world, with a positive attitude. In spite of these praiseworthy aspects of his personality, his career as a talented musician is yet to take off. Moreover, he is not a popular and attractive guy, though he manages to strike a rapport with the females.
With comedy as its basic ingredient of entertainment, the show offers a full-on description about two types of attitudes in life that are poles-apart.
The show’s sparkling star cast comprises of tried and tested performers like David Mitchell, Robert Webb, Olivia Colman, Matt King, Paterson Joseph and Rachel Blanchard, to name a few amongst all.
