From the gripping world of Canadian police drama television series, Rookie Blue is an absolute-attention-stealer. A co-creation of Tassie Cameron, Morwyn Brebner and Ellen Vanstone, it has Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith as the lead actors. Other stars involved in the series are Travis Milne, Enuka Okuma, Charlotte Sullivan, Ben Bass, Matt Gordon and many others. Global airs the show in Canada, whereas in America, it is telecasted on ABC.
Set in Toronto, the show centers on five newly-recruited police officers, who are fresh from their training. Rookie Blue transits its focus between their life on duty and how they deal with the intricacies in their personal life. During their patrols, they realize that training is far different from the actual job. Now is the time for them to transform theories into action. After seven months on the job, these new recruits have done everything right from gun-fights to fast and twirling car chases.
Rookie Blue has been co-produced by Thump Inc., E1 Entertainment and Canwest. The road for making this show available to the US audience was cleared in April, 2009, when ABC acquired its broadcast rights.
The casting process initiated by offering the role of Andy McNally to Missy Peregrym. Afterwards, Gregory Smith was roped in for portraying Dov Epstein. The remaining star cast was finalized by July, and the show was put under production in the same month.
The series’ premiere in Canada was marked by an overall viewership of 1.900 million viewers. This figure places it among the well-received premieres in Canada. In US too, the show managed to pull viewers in multitudes.
Besides America and Canada, it is being shown in Brazil, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Italy, Russia, Romania, Poland, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Slovakia, Norway, Malaysia and Hungary, to name some among all.
Rookie Blue comes out as a truly satisfying entertainer.
