
Rules of Engagement, is a show that belongs to the stables of CBS and premiered on February 5, 2007. The show chooses the field of relationship analysis as its base, and projects the variety of complexities involved in them.
Looking at it, it would be wise to say that this series portrays various relationships from a wide range of angles. In the process, it brings forth the problems and complications that these relationships go through at their different stages.
It very intelligently centers itself on the lives of five friends, two of whom happen to be a long married couple; one of them is still single and the remaining two are shown as recently engaged love birds.
This very idea lends it the opportunity to take into account not one, but many different kinds of relationships that one goes through in life. What’s nice is that the show portrays them holistically, by bringing in the various stages as the relations progress. Thus, it throws light on all the possible problems and situations that people go through, when in love.
This foundation of the show is supported by a cast that includes names like Patrick Warburton, Megyn Price, Oliver Hudson, Bianca Kajlich, David Spade and Adhir Kalyan.
The show is a work of collaboration between Adam Sandler’s production house - Happy Madison, CBS Television Studios and Sony Pictures Television, and has a strong fan-base, as it secured a viewership to the tune of 12.4 million in its first season.
Season 1 of the show, deeply concerned itself with the development of the relationships and as the second season of the show came, it brought along episodes like ‘Flirting With Disaster’ and ‘Mr. Fix It’ and focused more on the problems that couples have to face. Season 3 and 4 each had 13 episodes a piece and moved along the lines of developing various situations in the lives of the protagonists, and the relations they shared with each other.
