Making the real life Victoria Police Critical Incident Response Team its source of inspiration, Rush focuses itself on the actions and lives of the members of such a team. Premiering in the September of 2008 on Network 10, it has developed a team similar to the VPCIR and has named it ‘Police Tactical Response Team’.

This Tactical Response team that is headed by inspector Kerry Vincent (Catherine McClements) is shown as filling the gap between the operations carried out by the general police, and the groups handling special operations.

Involving themselves in crimes such as suicides, carjackings etc., the members of this team are shown as being tested on the grounds of intelligence and crime-handling prowess. The members are basically shown juggling around in their personal and professional lives.

The show involves plots and sub-plots in each episode, and usually it is the crime that takes center stage. The personal lives of the members of the team form the sub-plots and usually continue for more than one episode. 

Season 1 divided the team into two, and then followed their lives as well. It has always managed to bring something new as in season 2, it showed senior constable Grace Barry dying and then getting replaced by Shannon Henry. Accordingly, season 3 saw the entry of Audrey Khoo and Christian Tapu.

The producers John Edwards and Southern Star work hard to make the situations life-like, and make sure that the dilemmas that the force members have to go through while putting their professional lives over their personal ones, get portrayed in the most effective manner.
The main cast of the show includes Rodger Corser playing Senior Sergeant Lawson, Blake Callan Mulvey as Sergeant Brendan Joshua, Jolene Anderson donning the role of Sergeant Shannon Henry, Samuel Johnson as Leon Broznic and as discussed earlier Catherine McClements playing Inspector Kerry Vincent.

With that done, it can be concluded, that this is a show that through all its seasons, has worked hard to bring into focus the personal and professional lives of the members of a team, that works to bring sanity to the lives of ordinary residents.
