Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a joint production of Lucasfilm Animation, Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and CGCG Inc. The 3D CGI animated show made its debut on Cartoon Network on October 3, 2008.
This sci-fi based adventure series is shown as taking place between 22 BBY and 19 BBY and focuses on the events that take place in the fictional Star Wars galaxy. BBY refers to ‘Before the Battle of Yavin’, a terminology that developed in the Star Wars saga.
For the development of the characters of the 3-D version, character designer Kilian Plunkett took reference from the characters of the 2D version, though director of the clone war series, Genndy Tartakovsky, is not involved in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Matt Lanter plays the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Ashley Eckstein plays Ahsoka Tano, James Arnold Taylor enacts Obi-Wan Kenobi, Dee Bradley Baker plays Captain Rex, D2-R2, Tom Kane dons the garb of Yoda, Dee Bradley Baker plays Clone Troopers and Matthew Wood portrays Battle Droids. All these actors constitute the main cast of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Tom Kane also happens to be the narrator of the show and takes on the job of introducing and setting up of situations that take place in the series and a movie of the same name that released in 2008. The plot for this movie serves as the basic plot for the television series, too.
Season 1 of the series had episodes like Ambush, which portrayed the situation of Jedi Master Yoda and a few clone troopers, getting ambushed by an army of separatists. It was episodes like this and some others like Rising Malevolence and Shadow of Malevolence that led to an amazing opening for the series, fetching high viewership with a staggering 3.992 million viewers.
