
The Apprentice is a reality show focusing on businesses, produced and hosted by one of the biggest names in the world of entrepreneurship - Donald Trump. The show has been topping popularity charts ever since it’s inception in 2004, and has completed a ten-season run.
The show features a group of contestants from different walks of life, most of which are related to merchandising. The contestants include a plethora of people including bankers, real estate agents, salesmen and political consultants.
The contestants have to endure grueling challenges and searing critiques for weeks, the ultimate catch being a $250,000 contract with Donald Trump that entitles them to hold the position of a CEO with any of his firms for a year! The format of the show is a highly intricate one, and is subject to changes as per Donald Trump’s discretion.
The contestants are required to live together in a communal penthouse for an entire season, prompting them to develop interpersonal relationships, along the sojourn. The impetus for competition comes from the division of the contestants into two teams - a winning team and a losing team. Both the teams are given a new, interesting challenge every week.
The teams choose a project manager for each task, whose decision is often instrumental in pinpointing the eliminated contestant. The winning team, along with having the advantage of steering safe of the eliminations, also bags a better accommodation.
The procedure for elimination varies, with some episodes seeing instant elimination, while the other going for a multiple one. Some of the episodes also see elaborate procedures of boardroom interviews and discussions.
The seventh, eighth and ninth seasons changed the protocol of the show, by introducing a new format that featured celebrities competing for charity. The eleventh season brings back the celebrity format yet again
