The Glades is a police procedural television show that focuses on the everyday crimes in a small town of Florida. The crimes are investigated and dealt with by Detective Jim Longworth, who moved to Florida from Chicago. He works at Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
When Detective Longworth was in Chicago, his Captain wrongly accused Jim of sleeping with his wife. He did not, but was apparently, believed to have done so. As a result of that, he left the city and moved to South Florida, half expecting the large number of crimes happening in the town.
He wanted it to be a small affair with less strenuous cases and a peaceful stay. What he gets, in fact, is a long list of murders and even more stress than what he would have assumed otherwise, or rather, what he used to face in Chicago.
Because of that, he becomes a tough man, whose face-off with other people is always displeasing. Although he rues the endless crimes and murders, he is nevertheless adept and skilful in solving the cases. Detective Longworth is played by Matt Passmore and the show is created by Clifton Campbell. Season one comprises of thirteen episodes, which are all very entertaining.
Dr. Carlos Sanchez is Longworth’s friend and a forensic pathologist. The character is played by Carlos Gomez. Longworth likes Callie Cargill, who has been raising a twelve-year-old son after her husband was sent to jail. She knows about Longworth’s intention and, although she likes him despite her usual abhorrence towards cops, she is not ready to divorce her husband, while he is in jail.
Longworth still follows her, although he takes care not to cause any kind of problems to Callie. He befriends Callie’s son Jeff, who takes an instant liking to him. Longworth and his friend Carlos are helped by a 23-year-old intern, Daniel Green, who works for Carlos in his office.
