Premiered on September 23, 2008 on The CW Network, ‘The Mentalist’, is among those TV shows whose pilot episodes managed to attract 15.6 million viewers. Patrick Jane, a psychic, portrayed by Simon Baker, is the protagonist of the show. He works with the California Bureau of Investigation as a consultant to help them solve the baffling cases. It has been five years since he lost his wife and daughter as they were killed by a serial killer whom Patrick Jane was trying to pick up by helping the department. His non existent etiquettes make him an unpopular figure in the department. On the other hand, making his place very secure are his razor sharp skills of observation and his psychic powers which help him to make the accused reveal the facts before him. The other members of the team include Senior Agent Teresa Gibson, Agent Kimball Cho, Agent Wayne Rigsby and the rookie Grace Van Pelt. ‘The Mentalist’ has been picked up for a second season by the CBS Network.
