The Walking Dead is a chilling tale of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, in a desolate city of the United States. The show is the brain child of Robert Kirkman, also the creator of the black and white comic series, ‘The Walking Dead’, on which this show is based.
The protagonist of the series is Rick Grimes, a sheriff deputy, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln. Rick heads a group of survivors, who are in a desperate attempt to escape the dreaded attack by zombies. The blood-curdling tales are replete with zombies, who have escaped their graves and are eager to quench their thirst for blood.
The series premiered on October, 31, 2010, with a 64-minute-long pilot episode that was followed by 5 episodes in the first season, which culminated on December 5, 2010. The show was renewed for a second season, containing 13 episodes. It is all set to premiere in October 2011.
The pilot episode, entitled ‘Days Gone by’ was absorbing enough to set the stage for more gruesome horrific tales in the offing. The episode hit off with Rick Grimes being in a delusional state after an unexplained attack.
He wakes up to find that his wife and kid have disappeared, and sets out on a treacherous trail to find them. The Walking Dad also has another interesting turn in the plot that sees Rick’s wife, Lori, portrayed by Sarah Wayne Callies, involved in a romantic relationship with his partner and confidant, Shane Walsh.
The season finale tied up all the loose ends by bringing Lori, Rick and Shane together in a luxurious hideout. When the realization of Rick’s wellbeing dawns upon Shane and Lori, they decide to put an end to their incestuous relationship, even though Shane admitted of having feelings for her and attempted to rape her.
Just when things seem to be at the verge of another disaster, the group manages to dare death with a last-minute escape from the building that crumbles down to dust within seconds.
