Victorious is a teen sitcom, that’s got all that it takes to hit home with the youth. The show, contrived by Dan Schneider, was first seen on March 27, 2010, and has been charming audience, ever since. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to term Victoria Justice as the heart beat of the series, since not only the series is named after her, she also voices the immensely popular opening theme of the show, ‘Make It Shine’. She plays the central character of Tori Vega.
The series is a typical teen drama, set in the backdrop of the Hollywood Arts, a performing arts school, in which a bunch of queer, yet talented high school students battle against everyday challenges. Every single day at Hollywood Arts is loaded with electrifying drama. Tori is portrayed as a clumsy teenager, who’s accidentally landed up at the school, and is struggling to etch a mark for herself among the prodigies that surround her.
Together, all these teenagers go on to form an interesting amalgamation of personalities. The love birds, Jade West ((Elizabeth Gillies) and Beck Oliver (Avan Jogia), fit in perfectly with each other despite their vast differences. While Jade is the quintessential style diva with an enticing gothic tinge, Beck, is her diametric opposite, the easygoing and humble guy-next-door.
Adding more buzz to the school is André Harris, played by Leon Thomas III. André is the best friend of Tori, gifted with a spellbinding craft of music. He can play nearly every musical instrument under the sky, his favorite being the piano. He is the ‘agony aunt’ on the block, being the one everyone turns to when they seek a shoulder to cry upon.
All these teens come together to make a great drama that leaves the viewer begging for more. The show has garnered a huge fan base for its first season, raising anticipation. Season 1 has laid the perfect foundation for a long-running series, with characters we’d never want to part ways with.
